I don't have any book on meditation, are least not directly. Anything you do to control your mind if a form of meditation and “the Dao that can be talked about it's not the eternal Dao”. In other words, you have to walk your own path in that respect. More to the point, most people who talk about meditation, ie Watts, Chopra, Krishnamurri, McKenna, even Harris, are more wrong than right and tend to talk bullshit more than anything useful, because it's actually so simple. I suggest you try a bunch of shrooms and/or DMT in the forest to experience ego death, and for meditation, do an internet search and try whatever seems worth trying; keep what works for you.
Self is both evolutionary and continuous. Your sense of self never wavers, even if you're anxious about who you are, you have continuity. But it changes all the time, when you're in different moods, when you experience an epiphany, as you evolve generally. Don't get too caught up in that esoteric new age stuff. It's much more time wasting than wisdom.
I don't want to send just anything, bc i have a metric fuckton of e-books too, so i'll send a few and let me know when you want more, or when you want something specific.
Mind-full. It's right in there. :). Full of ideas, considering relationships, planning, ruminating... To be embodied is the state of empty mind, sort of.. to be in the moment, not considering past or future things; present in the present.
For my practice that means keeping out words. The purpose of mediation is to prepare yourself for being back in the thick of things. If it's an escape you're doing it wrong. Life will still be there when you get back and it will still suck, because people are neither at peace or full of mind.
Caveat - i use the word rumination cautiously, as in deeply poring over an idea - full consideration. In its negative sense it's just spinning your wheels until you're enraged.
This was nice and short but I’d love more specific examples as part of the beauty of philosophy is being able to wrestle with real life problems. Still enjoyed the brief lesson
Practical Wisdom is much more complicated than Truth Wisdom, such as the metaphysics above. It requires understanding the priorities of everyone involved. But there are some universals and i have an idea for a piece about that...
I had a thought last night, after a brief convo with AI, that the core of meditation in the sense of Jhana meditation and similar, is based around Prediction and Control. If you let go of prediction, your mind becomes quiet. If you let go of control, you can reach nirodha samapatti. The easiest way to learn to let go of control is to focus on breathing, because focusing on breathing naturally comes with 'manually breathing' — most people can't help but start breathing manually once they notice their own breath. Thus, getting to the point of *purely* observing the breath means completely relinquishing control of the meditation object, and letting go of the reward prediction mechanism in your brain (random thoughts). Prediction and Control.
Equanimity in action seems to make sense as an extension of this. Adler had it right. If you stop trying to control others and stop trying to predict (worry) about the world, you can simply allow yourself to live and be happy.
Instruments of logic equals transcendence? Well, that's not been my experience, logic of the mind will only keep you stuck in a confused state. The mind chatter is what you want to shut up because it's blocking the ability to emotionally understand what's going on. It's what the psychedelic does too if one is open in the experience.

Interesting. For me meditation is transcending thought to enter a state of pure consciousness.
