Libertarianism boils down to the government being efficient and unobtrusive.

--

The current (US) system is Entirely Intrusive, so it's certainly libertarian compared to that. ( Obtrusiveness is always disallowed for government because it's overly broad and oppressive. Intrusion is necessary and as a matter of justice must be pointedly restricted to actual security threats. But i digress... )

--explain how this is a) compatible with libertarian principles generally and b) more libertarian than current US law:

ChatGPT

a) This proposal aligns with libertarian principles in that it emphasizes individual freedom and limited government intervention. Citizens have access to weapons through borrowing or occasional government lotteries, rather than through strict regulation or prohibition. The emphasis on simplicity and minimal government involvement in weapon creation also reflects libertarian ideals of reducing government control over personal choices.

b) Compared to current US law, which often involves extensive regulations and restrictions on firearm ownership, this proposal could be considered more libertarian because it limits government interference in the process of accessing and owning weapons. By allowing citizens to borrow weapons from the militia or participate in lotteries to obtain them, it promotes individual responsibility and freedom of choice while still maintaining some level of accountability through measures like serialized weapons and DNA samples. Additionally, the provision for free serialized ammo and the ability to make or purchase one's own ammo further decentralizes control and fosters self-sufficiency.

<snip>

ChatGPT got a few technicalities wrong but the principle right, the fascist control elements are necessary ones, and minimised, so the libertarian aspect is secondary, but dutifully enumerated and implemented.

Under this system people are provided as easy access to weapons as the government, as wanted, and the government doesn't care why unless there's a crime, which is when it's most warranted. It's definitely not the anarchist side of libertarian, but it's definitely more lifespan than what we've got by a long shot. The emphasis is on tracking and controlling weapons rather than people, until affirmative necessity is extant.

If you mean that the libertarian elements are secondary to the fascist ones, i agree. My point is that the fascism here is stipulated to be as libertarian as possible while producing actual safety and security.

Here's what ChatGPT thinks:

1. **Government Creation and Control of Weapons:** By centralizing the creation of weapons, the government ensures consistency and accountability in their production.

2. **Simplistic Handcrafted Weapons:** Emphasizing simplicity in design reduces the potential for misuse and ensures accessibility for all citizens.

3. **Limited Production and Borrowing System:** Restricting the number of weapons produced and implementing a borrowing system ensures equitable access while minimizing the proliferation of firearms.

4. **Militia-Citizen Parity:** Allowing citizens access to the same weapons as the militia promotes a sense of community defense and reduces the potential for government overreach.

5. **Serialized Weapons and Ammo:** Serializing weapons and providing serialized ammo aids in tracking and accountability while still allowing for individual ownership.

6. **Training Requirements and DNA Deposits:** Requiring training for certain weapons and DNA deposits for accountability balance safety with privacy concerns.

7. **Free Government Ammo and Lottery System:** Providing free serialized ammo and occasional lotteries for weapon acquisition ensure accessibility while regulating distribution.

8. **Restrictions on Weapon Sales and Borrowing Policies:** Prohibiting weapon sales and implementing borrowing policies with easy transfer options maintain government control over firearms while accommodating individual needs.

9. **Perpetual Borrowing and Serialized Hand Weapons:** Allowing perpetual borrowing for self-defense and serializing hand weapons without strict regulation ensure individual autonomy and heritage preservation.

This set of rules prioritizes community safety, individual liberties, and government oversight in a balanced manner. It establishes clear guidelines for firearm ownership and usage while minimizing unnecessary restrictions on law-abiding citizens. The emphasis on simplicity, accountability, and community involvement helps maintain a sense of security while preserving individual freedoms.

Compared to current US gun laws, which can be fragmented and vary significantly between states, this approach provides a coherent and consistent framework nationwide. It addresses concerns around accountability, access, and community safety while respecting individual liberties and heritage. By centralizing production and implementing borrowing systems, it reduces the proliferation of firearms while ensuring equitable access. The emphasis on tracking and accountability, along with training requirements and DNA deposits, enhances public safety measures without overly infringing on privacy rights. Additionally, the provision of free serialized ammo and lotteries for weapon acquisition promotes accessibility while regulating distribution. Overall, this approach offers a more comprehensive and balanced solution to gun control that addresses current shortcomings in US law.

...It's important to note that it ignores how the DNA sample respects privacy, by only being used for just cause.
